Known for its small size and dazzling feathers that change colour depending on the light, the hummingbird is a small American bird. This animal belongs to the Trochilidae family and is famous for its ability to flap its wings very quickly, at up to 120 beats per second. It generally lives in tropical countries. The hummingbird is a fascinating species, a symbol of perseverance, joy and freedom. In some cultures, it is regarded as a spiritual messenger, linking the terrestrial world to the spirit world...

The hummingbird invites you to live in the moment

As a totem animal, the hummingbird is renowned for its joyful, positive qualities. It is attractive not only for its outward beauty, but also for the richness of its inner essence. People whose totem animal is the hummingbird are depicted as being full of life. The hummingbird invites you to eliminate all negative thoughts from your mind by letting the light in and enjoying the beauty of the present moment.

This little bird also symbolises the ability to find beauty in the little things in life and to appreciate every moment. Remember to have fun and enjoy your surroundings and the moments that make you happy. Remember to take time for yourself and your loved ones.

Even if this little bird has the rare ability to fly backwards, don't look back at the mistakes of the past and move forward on your many dreams and opportunities with optimism.

A cheerful totem animal symbolising freedom and perseverance

These colourful little creatures encourage you to be open to change. In fact, it would be clever for you to explore new opportunities and not let yourself get trapped in complicated situations by restricting yourself. A new job opportunity? Moving house? A new personal project?
With its ability to fly in all directions, the hummingbird symbolises flexibility and freedom, just like the butterfly.

So if opportunities arise, seize them. The hummingbird will accompany you on this new adventure. Despite their small size, one of the smallest birds in the world, hummingbirds are persistent: they are able to perceive subtle variations in sound. This helps them to detect other hummingbirds or potential predators, ensuring their survival in often noisy and hectic environments. To feed, they forage for around 1,000 flowers a day for several hours and are also able to see a wide range of colours, enabling them to spot nectar-rich flowers. Their rapid wingbeats, which can reach 120 beats per second, evoke perseverance and the constant effort to hold on to life.

Having the hummingbird as a totem animal reminds us that, even when challenges seem insurmountable, hard work can lead to rewarding and beneficial results. In some cultures, the hummingbird totem animal is associated with good luck. Perhaps now is the time for you to create something that you hold dear to your heart.

The Hummingbird, the bird that stands for creativity with a lot of energy

The hummingbird's positive energy is omnipresent; they are always on the move and never seem to tire. They can cover impressive distances during their migrations. This reminds us how important it is to take care of our physical and mental health, while having a positive attitude in our lives.

Like the fox, the hummingbird is also considered a creative animal. This creativity manifests itself in many ways. Indeed, the hummingbird totem animal is often associated with artistic expression. Its agility and grace in flight, combined with its bright blue, red or even green colours, make it a source of inspiration for many artists. The patterns of its wings and shimmering throat have inspired paintings, sculptures and artistic designs for generations, such as the painting "Hummingbirds and Orchids" by Martin Johnson Heade.

What's more, these fragile yet remarkable creatures have inventive qualities. These totem animals have developed unique behaviours and techniques for feeding on flower nectar, demonstrating their ability to find original solutions to the challenges they face. This spiritual guide to the hummingbird encourages you to do the same with your personal or professional projects.

Love and Passion, a strong symbolism of the hummingbird

The hummingbird's totem animal is associated with love and passion, and they owe this to their courtship ritual. To charm their females, the birds perform a series of swoops, creating elaborate aerial dances and singing a beautiful symphonic song. Their elaborate behaviour invites us to create relationships and express our love and compassion for others. The Hummingbird totem animal will teach you about mutual understanding and important communication, which must be nurtured constantly if it is to flourish. Hummingbirds encourage us to express tenderness and use gentle words to show love based on strong bonds.

The hummingbird: a symbol of healing

In many spiritual traditions, the hummingbird is seen as a symbol of healing, particularly in the traditional medicine of various indigenous cultures. Its visit is generally seen as a positive sign, bringing the potential for recovery, often both physical and mental. This belief is based on the idea that the hummingbird's delicate, graceful flight brings soothing, regenerative energies.
The hummingbird's delicacy, its ability to extract nectar without damaging the flower, teaches the need to treat the fragile elements of life with care. This subtlety is often associated with healing, underlining the importance of adopting gentle, loving approaches when dealing with wounds, whether physical, emotional or spiritual, for yourself and your loved ones.

In short, the hummingbird totem animal is a guide to a fulfilled life and offers much more than its natural beauty and agility in flight. It is a spiritual messenger, a bearer of joy.

By wearing a piece of jewellery in honour of this beautiful bird, you can connect with these meanings. The hummingbird is a small but powerful totem animal for those who seek to live a life filled with beauty, joy, flexibility and love. May its grace and lightness accompany and guide you in all your endeavours. You can wear a bracelet bearing her image to keep her by your side at all times.

I have a hummingbird that flies right up to my face and looks me in the eye , with his eye . He flies and hovers , then he comes closer , then he gets closer , about 3 feet from my face and we make eye contact for about 20 to 30 seconds . Then he flies straight away from me . The bird is trying to tell me something ? ? ? I do feel at peace after these encounters happened .

Merci , merci, merci. Sandrine M.

When I was going through my divorce and having a very hard time, I had a dream about a hummingbird fluttering in my ear and “speaking” to me. The sound I translated in the dream was “Everything is going to be okay: it’s time to move on. You’re living on a higher plane now.” I woke up and had a renewed sense of comfort and peace. I now have a hummingbird tattoo on my arm and think of it as a totem and symbol of healing, love, freedom, and happiness. I have a feeder in my backyard and every time I see one, it gives me a sense of peace. I just love them!
