Also known as the Australian sloth, the koala sleeps more than 19 hours a day in the comfortable branches of its habitat. Yet it still finds time to feed on 1kg of eucalyptus leaves a day. This activity gives it an important role in the Australian ecosystem, particularly in the forests. In fact, its droppings serve as fertilizer and bring nutrients to the soil.
