Deans of the oceans, sea turtles have existed for more than 150 million years. Although it moves slowly on earth, the marine turtle is also incredibly fast and agile in the water. Having rubbed shoulders with dinosaurs and survived all crises, they are nevertheless today in danger of disappearance.
Role in the ecosystem
Marine areas are naturally cleaned thanks to turtles. Feeding with sponges and sometimes jellyfish, they release corals, allowing other fish to access the reef to eat. Without them, there would be no lobster, tuna, or shrimp.
Why is this species in danger?
Present in all the oceans of the world, 6 of the 7 species are vulnerable or threatened because of pollution, poaching and accidental sockets by fishing machines.
